Equilo first emerged in response to the persistent challenges of data analysis in international development—specifically, the profound impact on marginalized communities when development programs stalled due to missing or incomplete data during planning.
Jessica Menon, Equilo's founder, is a data analytics and international development specialist. She has over 20 years of experience embedding analytics into global development initiatives to navigate complex social and economic factors that can slow progress and hinder returns.
Through her work, Jessica noticed a recurring challenge: analysis for women's economic empowerment was inefficient, slow, and often treated as a mere checkbox exercise. This approach frequently delayed meaningful insights from influencing decision-making when it mattered most.
